Bulphan in Bloom

LATEST NEWS:  Bulphan won a Gold Award in Anglia in Bloom AND Best Village!

Bulphan in Bloom has been set up under the "umbrella" of Bulphan Village Community Forum, and the Forum has allocated several set-up grants to help this new committee and their volunteers improve and beautify our village.

Last year was the first year Bulphan in Bloom entered the Anglia in Bloom competition, and they had a very short timescale before the judging.  However, with a magnificent effort from many willing helpers and an extemely enthusiastic committee, they gained several awards, including a Silver Gilt medal!

As well as hanging baskets, various interesting planters have been placed strategically around the village: these include a calf feeder,  a feed trough, a potato lifter and a seed dresser.

Bulphan in Bloom were on hand to help when Bulphan Women's Institute celebrated their 80th birthday by planting an oak tree at the far end of the Recreation Ground on April 11th 2009.

2009 saw another new initiative: an Open Gardens day featuring 10 gardens large and small and a shelter with a living roof created by the award-winning Grass Roof Company.

This year's Anglia in Bloom judges seemed very happy with everything they saw on judging day, and were especially impressed with the enthusiasm and knowledge of the children at Bulphan School.

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE ON THE GOLD AWARD AND BEST VILLAGE ACHIEVEMENT!
